Unleashing Your App-Building Potential: The Benefits of Bubble.io

Bubble.io revolutionizes the way you create software and applications. Say goodbye to traditional coding and hello to a world of no-code innovation. Let ‘s dive in the advantages of this no-code builder:

  1. User Authentication

Unlike many builders on the market, Bubble stands out by offering a comprehensive user authentication service. While other platforms may require integration with Firebase or manual password hashing, Bubble provides various options for creating user accounts, including convenient passwordless authentication through links and text messages.

  1. Database

In addition to its robust user authentication capabilities, Bubble also provides its users with their own database. There's no need to deal with external APIs or connect to external databases. However, it's worth noting that there are pricing considerations when it comes to storage, which we'll discuss later.

  1. Drag and Drop Design

Finding a true drag and drop design feature is a rarity, but Bubble makes it possible. With Bubble, you can easily drag and drop elements onto a web page and customize them to your heart's content. Moreover, Bubble employs a responsive design system based on CSS flexbox principles, dividing the page into 9 quadrants to ensure a seamless viewing experience across different devices.

  1. Wrapper

While Bubble doesn't support native app development, it offers a wrapper option specifically designed for mobile applications. The one-page mobile option closely emulates native app capabilities. For instance, you can utilize SuperView 3 to deploy your app to the App Store, or you can explore free web wrappers that serve the purpose effectively.

  1. Community

One of Bubble's greatest strengths lies in its thriving user community. Within this vibrant community, users openly share valuable information and solutions for incorporating desired features into their applications. If you encounter a challenge, chances are high that the forum already holds the answers you seek.

  1. Built-in Debugger

While several no-code builders include debuggers, Bubble's debugger stands out for its exceptional functionality. It allows you to execute your code step-by-step, making it easier to identify and resolve any bugs within your logic. The debugger provides detailed insights, presenting information about each page element as well as data from the database and users, facilitating efficient troubleshooting.

The Fine Print: The Limitations of Bubble.io

While Bubble.io boasts impressive features, it's crucial to acknowledge the limitations and potential hurdles users may encounter. Let ‘s see the dark side:

  1. App Elements

You can feel that there is a lack of app content accessible. To change the look of your app, you'll need to know HTML and CSS or be willing to learn them. Most components have few built-in options for modifying their appearance. While no template layout options are supplied, a sign-up form template is accessible.

  1. Pricing

Bubble offers reasonable pricing considering the array of features it provides. However, if your application requires substantial storage, you may need to use an external database to avoid high storage fees associated with Bubble. As of now, the free live option is no longer available due to an increase in fraud, and the starting cost for a lean start-up is $30 per month.

  1. SEO

If you rely heavily on organic search engine traffic to drive users to your app, it's essential to reconsider your marketing strategy. Bubble apps face indexing challenges that prevent search engines from correctly crawling and indexing them, leading to decreased organic search visibility.

  1. Plugins

The marketplace offers several plugins, both free and paid. However, many of the paid options are deemed overpriced, ranging from $10+ per month, with the option to purchase upfront for $25+. The issue arises when plugins become deprecated due to developers leaving the platform without updating them.

  1. Speed

Increased data storage might slow down your Bubble program, particularly when dealing with picture files. Database searches might take a long time, perhaps up to a minute. Timeout difficulties can also arise, creating disruptions in functionality.

  1. Background updates

The Bubble engineering team continuously works on background updates to enhance the service. While these updates bring new features, they can occasionally lead to significant disruptions. Some updates have the potential to break your application, resulting in embarrassing situations where potential users are unable to create accounts, send messages, or view other users' profiles.

Last thoughts about Bubble.io

In conclusion, Bubble.io emerges as a powerful no-code visual programming platform with its user-friendly interface, dynamic functionality, and extensive community support. It offers a range of benefits, such as convenient user authentication, a built-in database, drag and drop design capabilities, and a dedicated mobile app option. However, it's important to consider the limitations, including the need for HTML and CSS knowledge for customization, challenges with SEO and indexing, and potential issues with speed and background updates. Despite these drawbacks, Bubble.io remains a compelling choice for individuals and businesses looking to build sophisticated web and mobile applications without coding.

Cloud Integration, iPaaS, SaaS, BPA… Ough, hard to keep track of all these terms. They are currently used frequently (and increasingly) in the context of automation, and it is sometimes difficult to make a clear distinction and distinction. We have already written blog posts on the terms iPaaS, SaaS and BPA, but we’ll take them up again here to make the difference.

But let’s start with cloud integration, because that’s the central umbrella term in which we embed all the other technologies in this blog post.

  • Is available in real time
  • Can be accessed from almost anywhere
  • Reduce potential sources of error by entering the same data multiple times
  • Require less installation and maintenance
  • Can optimize business processes

To illustrate these advantages, an example is suitable that we know well from our everyday work as an automation agency:

The central data to be used here is the data of a major customer. This can be the simplest information, such as the address. This address is required in numerous but completely different processes in the company: on the one hand, for correct invoicing in accounting. On the other hand, in the CRM system, where all the data of the large customer is also stored. But the address is also important in sales, for example, when employees go to the sales meeting on site.

Now the customer announces that the address of the company has changed after a move. This information will reach you by e-mail. There are now two options:

01. The e-mail is forwarded to all affected departments, accounting, sales, customer service, marketing… All persons open their corresponding program, CRM, accounting software, marketing tools (such as newsletter marketing) and change the data already stored there of the customer. This means that in multiple applications, different people do exactly the same thing: change one address.

02. But there is also an alternative: By connecting your applications, thus by integrizing them, the customer’s e-mail, or rather the information it contains about the address change, is automatically passed on to all affected applications: CRM, accounting, marketing, ERP. This does not require any clicks, because the cloud integration detects a trigger, i.e. address change, and thus automatically starts the process.

What sounds unimpressive in a single process becomes more effective when such a process occurs several times a day or weekly. Because there is a lot of data that is available in different applications and should always be correct. If these applications are cloud applications they are suitable for cloud integration.

But cloud integration doesn’t just happen. There are now a variety of applications that enable and implement this. Such tools usually allow us to link the relevant cloud applications on a central platform and define clear rules on when, how, where, how much data should be passed on and what happens to them.

IPaaS, SaaS, BPA, ABC – who can still see through it?

To realize cloud integration, there are various applications and technologies that are sometimes used interchangeably.

We have made a first distinction between iPaaS and BPA here.

We explain the term SaaS in more detail here.

Here the short version, again:

Cloud integration cannot be done without SaaS, iPaaS and BPA

Cloud integration is rather an umbrella term that includes numerous technologies, such as SaaS, iPaaS and BPA, and this is also absolutely necessary. Cloud integration is a concept that is made possible by appropriate technologies.

However, all terms share the commonality that they are cloud-based and thus offer enormous potential for growth and scaling. In addition, they are often cheaper to implement and maintain because changed requirements are easy to implement.

As an independent automation agency, we implement cloud integration according to your requirements. We use a variety of SaaS tools and iPaas (strictly speaking BPA) software. Together we find individual solutions that are flexible and scalable.
